"Tim Hortons"
It all depends on where you are in time and space, as to what this means.
If you're in Cochrane, Ontario in 1930, you're likely at the Horton household, where Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton was born. Tim played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1949 to 1970, and then a few short stints with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres. It wasn't the reason we went, but Caroline and I did visit Cochrane in 2004, and I was surprised to see a museum dedicated to him (see below for the photos)
If you're in Hamilton, Ontario in 1964, you are probably at the first Tim Horton Donut Shop. The location remains, albeit as a larger, more modern facility.
If you're in Toronto, Ontario in 1970, you'd be at the location on The Queensway (which still exists), a 5 minute drive from where I live.
Or, you just may be at any of the 4,932 restaurants worldwide.
The name (note the intentional omission of the possessive apostrophe) also refers to just the coffee that you might get from said location. It is also usually known as "Timmies".
People are usually definitely on one side or another when it comes to their opinion on Tim Hortons coffee. There are no fence sitters in this situation. You either love it, or hate it.
These days, it is also more than just donuts. Tims offers many different pastries and beverages, along with Breakfast and Lunch options...a long way from the humble place that just offered coffee and donuts.
Have a great day everyone. Stay safe.
